“First idea with nowhere was about the planet. « Head above the water, you’ll come to understand » was an image to illustrate the fact that we’ll realize what we’ve done only when it’s too late. That we keep making excuses and hiding but soon we’ll have nowhere to go, nowhere to hide anymore.
As I kept writing the lyrics I realized the metaphor worked for a more general matter: facing everything as it comes because it would always come back eventually. Nowhere is a wake up call. A kind of gentle warning also.”
